is rank 1 in a subject... even in a small cohort of 5 unintelligent students .... affected by scaling? or is rank 1 not scaled down? how about rank 2 or 3 out of say 7 students?

If rank 1 gets the highest external exam mark, they will NOT be affected in any way by the rest of the cohort for that class.

Rank 1 will receive the highest examination mark as their assessment mark, and in your scenario, I'm guessing it will be ranks 1s.

So if rank 1 gets 94 in the exam and it's the highest mark, their assessment mark will also be 94.
