If you can get rank 1 in all your subjects you will be fine and no other person will affect your atar, only you. If you go selective, you will be competing against smart students that all want to get rank 1, so it will be much harder to do well rank wise, but you will not be distracted, have better teachers and students to guide you and just a better chance at performing your best.

If you are rank 1 and being consistent with it, other people won't effect you. Also, unless you have applied to change schools, it's too late.
