isnt centrino only for laptops and the reason why there is only 1.7 g is to make the battery last longer and for it not too be heavy.

centrino is laptop thing which allows wireless stuffs inbuilt. Centrino has lots of L2 cache, some laptops have about 2mb. Thus makes up for the low processing power.

If you want a gaming rig, you should be looking at P4 vs AMD64.

Centrino is for portable purposes like notebooks while p4 is for the desktop computer. A Centrino will be better if you are planning on getting a notebook

Go the P4, its better for alot of things especially speed and games, if its for a laptop, then centrino might be better

If you're using to use the laptop primarily as a desktop replacement, then I would go for the P4. Otherwise, get the centrino; they rock out.
