A particle moving with SHM starts from rest at x=5 and after 2 seconds reaches x=2.5.
Find:
i) an expression for the displacement at time t > or = 0

Ok, v = 0, x = 5, t = 0 is the starting point, at a maximum, so the equation is x = acos(nt + O)
But since it's starting directly at t = 0, it is x = acos(nt)
t = 0, x = 5
x = 5cos(nt)
t = 2, x = 2.5
1/2 = cos(2n)
solve for n, etc.
