$f(u)=\frac{1+u+u^2}{u}$

This means $f\left(\frac{1}{u} \right)$ is found by replacing every u above with $\frac{1}{u}$ :

$f\left(\frac{1}{u} \right)=\frac{1+\frac{1}{u}+\left(\frac{1}{u} \right)^2}{\frac{1}{u}}$ .

Now you just need to simplify the right-hand side and show that you end up with the expression given for $f(u)$ . (This is easily done by multiplying top and bottom by $u^2$ .)

since f(u) = blah.. then to find f(1/u) you sub (1/u) whereever you see a "u"
