I know that it's been asked before, I just can't find any answers, but do we need to know all the poems in detail for the exam? Will they specify, or just say a number?

no they'll say relate to your prescribed text and you refer to two or three poems, more likely 3 as its better for you to do

technically you don't need to know all the poems. in your essay you should only be analysing 2-4 poems. but it's just incase the poems you've chosen to study may not suit the question but it's upto you, i'm sure you could connect chosen poems to the question.
also they don't specify how many poems it's your call.

How many do you guys prefer to do? Generally I opt for 2 and do them in fair depth.

they can actually specify a text if its an anthology. Hate to tell you but yeah, they may (not very commonly done) ask for 1 specific poem then 2 of your own choosing. But its always best to be safe and know all 7.
