ok i download of torrents 4 files. Total down speed 10-15kbs (with my 512k). and they are well seeded like seed to leech ratio 88-15, 111-2000, 5-1.
but its all good when i seed caz the seed speed is maximum.

been downloading of irc at 10 kbs. turn azureus on and the speed went down to 4 kbs. WTF?!

max speed i should be dling at is at least 50 kbs

- We shouldn't be talking about bt's in these forums
- Often the case your computer would have to communicate to the server over all the transfers.

On the other hand, a 512 connection should theoretically able to transfer 64KB/s.

Bittorrent can be a completely legitimate form of distribution

back on topic:

do a hijackthis log and post it in here, it sounds like something affecting your connection locally.

What is going down to 4kbs. Azeueus or Irc.

So your downloading 4 files on Azureus and 1 file on mirc?

One may have higher precedence over the other and file transfer will be dedicated to one program.

You need to do a few things:

1. Limit your upload speed to about 65% of your theoretical upstream (about 10KB/s in your case) otherwise your upload will saturate your download; and

2. Make sure you have opened up the port you are using for BitTorrent in your router:).

as someone said yuo been to cap yuor upload at around 80%. however with yuor 128 k uplooad, the download rotio is small, and other people will have priority over you.

i use to have 128 k and after i got 256 k upload , i noticed a big increase in speeds.

also some torrents are slow by nature, becuase people dont like sharing or something.

if you wanna know if everythign is ok with your azareus, then download a really really popular torrrent and test to see what speed yuo get

Pfft, I havent done that and Ive had torrents hit 160kb/s on my 1.5mbit connection.
Your getting only 160 on a 1.5Mbps.....thats nothing to be gloating about.
I Have the same connection and on good trackers i get around 178-180 CONSTANTLY.

Ya, a pic would be nice, the theoretical max of 1.5mbit is only 192kb/s so considering i live just within the distance from the exchange that is required to be able to get ADSL I'd say 160 is pretty good, besides that, the highest I've ever gotten on speed tests and http or ftp downloads is 175ish, averages 170ish.

1.5mbits = 1500bits
there are 8 bit in 1 byte
1500bits / 8 = 187.5KB/sec
Which is the maximum theoretical speed.
.'. is highly possible to get over 160KB/sec.

There's no use arguing and calling people names on the internet, all you have to do is point out the facts.

What's funny is that three of you are arguing but none of you know what you are talking about...please refrain from making false statements in feeding the trolls.

Wow 70 kb/s on a 1.5 is pretty bad
Tell me
Are you behind a router?
Have you patched your outbound connections, if sp 2?
Have you ran TCP Optimizer[http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
What version Azureus are you running? 2.2.0.0 is the fastest

The last thing you can do is tweak the Scrape and Cache settings, for the torrent tracker server.
The settings to that is different for every tracker and connection, so there's no generic values.Your gonna have to find out which settings suit your connection/location.
1.Open dos, ping the server of the Tracker and note down the following values
-TTL
-Max
-Min
-Avg

Post the values you recieve.

Most ISP's list it as being 1500, but in reality, its 1536. 1.5x1024=1536kbits. My router connects at 1536, all my friends who are on 1.5mbit on different ISP's connect at 1536kbits. With that in mind the theoretical max is 192kb/s.

Politik is right though, there are many factors affecting how fast you can actually connect.

s1n1Ster thanks for posting the screenshot :)

Rafy if there is an in built firewall in your router, check its policies, see if its allowing the necessary traffic through, if its not, set it up so it allows it or disable it altogether.
