Math Advanced isn't even advanced math. UK most basic mathematics course for hs does everything in extension 1 and advanced

A levels in the UK are done with 1 additional year of schooling though
and its hard to compare different syllabi, though it is generally considered that on the higher level hsc Ex2 is harder than further mathematics
For a full A-level course, you're probably right that the easier ones are between adv and ex1 in the nsw HSC, but it's worth noting that in the UK you get a lot less options for subjects, so if you pick maths you're probably starting at a higher level than in AUS.
