hi
i need to find if there is an optimum wavelength of light for a solar cell.
any ideas whether i should use (and reason):
a) voltmeter
b) ammeter
c) ammeter and voltmeter
to measure the output of the cell
?????
help will be appreciated

there is an optimum wavelength of light, which ( as im led to believe) occour towards the red spectrum...why this is..im not entirely sure as red light has less energy than the other colours in the visible spectrum

so if you want to do this and if u have the right equipment u coud set up a solar cell attach it to a voltmeter and/or a ammeter and measure output...but u would need a light source which could give u red light, blue light,etc as well as UV...im not sure how or where u could get this.u could then see through the ammeter or voltmeter ( id use ammeter) the resultant change in current and reate it to wavelength change..

hope this somehow helps

that optium wavelength is 4 silicon cells...u must remember different materials and different purity levels will effect the resultant wavelength..but thats all i know...would anyone else have a more definitive answer?

im not so worried about the light
were getting marked on the planning of it

if i used an ammeter, could i just stick it in on its own or would i need something to put it in series to?
like a resistor or light globe
