Some Quest. abt Graphic Design next year (1 Viewer)

I'm prepared to enter Tafe in 07', I'm thinking of Graphic
Design(cert4)...

Does anyone doing/done this course? If yes, pls tell me...

Q.1 Is this course hard? Wt is it abt? Although i meet the entry requirements
but i have very limited graphic design skills.

Q.2 How many days n hours approx. attend per week?

Q.3 How many years in total could i completed a certificate + a diploma
course?
(cert-1yr, dip-2yrs, SO 3yrs in total?)
(((some ppl said that only use 2yrs to complete both...)))

Q.4 When i completed the cert or dip course, Is it possible to apply for credit
transfer into uni. degree courses?

Q.5 Any Exams in this course?

Q.6 When is the summer vocation actually started?
***From the calender:

3rd Dec- sem2 end
4th - 17th Dec- marking n assessment
18th Dec- summer vocation

So, does the holiday actually start at 18 Dec???
Wts "marking n assessment"?

yo, im currently doing cert lll graphic desing, applying for cert llll next yr.

but i have very limited graphic design skills.
depends on your graphic design skills. you say you have very limited skills, so dont apply at enmore or that other arty tafe. you will most likely have jacks chance of getting accepted. sorry, but tis the truth. maybe you should start wityh cert lll? you learn basics about the art industry and get to know about graphic design, and you learn stuff etc.
you will need a portfolio, and have to go in for a test and interview - which is required for all art courses.

this yr, for sem 1 i attended tafe 2.5days a week
sem 2 im doing 1.5days a week.
i think cert llll is about 3-4 days a week. not too sure on that. it will tell you in the tafe book.

thats your own decision, and it may also depend on your skills and limitations.

yes.
although, i have a friend who rang up many places that require artist, graphic designers - they prefer tafe students, as tafe is practical. uni is more theory that practical. if you actually want to get into the graphic design industry, theory will give you nothing.

its art. so no.
well, theres no exams in cert lll.

marking and assesment - when you hand in all your work semester work to your teachers on a set day. they will mark and assess all the breifs you have done for sem 1, and then sem 2.
holidays start dec 3rd.
marking and assessment the week after. teachers go during marking and assesment week. students go on one day during that week to hand in work to get it marked, and then to take it back home.
dec 18 is when tafe is closed for the summer holidays.


applications close oct 27, so yeah, hurry and up and decide if you really want to to do this course, or to go for cert lll.
personally i would reccommend cert lll, as it will higher your skills and prepare you for cert llll.
