Hey guys,
just got my first belonging speech which is supposed to be based on a spoken text eg: speech, monologue, play excerpt, recorded poetry and podcasts. I have totally no clue on what I should choose as my text.
It would be a major help if anyone can give me some suggestions on good texts it will be much appreciated

Try Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. There's a good monologue in there somewhere by Shylock pleading to be considered to belong even though he is Jewish, something like, "If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?". You know that concept of identity, acceptance/rejection, experience and belonging - sort of addresses them all. It is a brilliant monologue and a site 'no fear shakespeare' has the original and modern text translation together. It's in Act 3 scene one just in a bit.
just a thought
