Starting the major piece (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, Happy new year to start off with!

I am in hsc year and holidays now and i wanna start my major piece! I am keen but dun know where to start. I want to create a touch screen catalogue that will help people choose a computer package. I know what i want to do but dont know where to start.

does any1 know how i could make a dvd soughta thing, with the screen with menu options (like a normal dvd)??? any idea what program i would need?
