Hey guys,

So I got a note from my teacher reminding me to do a 200 word statement of intent... huh? Has anyone got tips on how to do this, or what should be in it, or something?

The Major Work Journal must provide the following information:
a written statement containing a clear statement of intention agreed to by the
student and the teacher/school

• reflections pertaining to the development of the Major Work composition.
Essentially, the bolded is what you're after.
My teacher told me take what's in your proposal, edit it slightly to get the bones of it, and that will be your statement of intention. The teacher has to sign it or something, and then you're fine.
The way I've structured mine is:
  1. What I thought the major work would be about
  2. What genre I was using
  3. Writing style and structure

Hope that helps :)

the way me and my school did this was just a sheet that said, I intend to complete a major work, rs, and document my process bla bla, and both me and my teacher signed this document.

Mine was just saying that my Major Work wouldn't be plagiarised or anything. It said nothing about what the content of my story actually was. And then it was signed by myself and the teacher and stuck in my journal.

Our statement of intention was like a draft proposal...And this was done at the start of the course.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. :/ My teacher told me nothing about this, so I'm kinda glad I read this thread, even if it IS only like 30 hours before the thing's due...!

My teacher did tell me to paste in copies of my internal assessments though, so I guess a lot of my "intent" is included in the proposal... Is it supposed to be a separate 'statement' right at the beginning of the journal or something?

boganxcore: I did the same. I really don't even care anymore. I mean, they're going to have to be pretty dedicated to their jobs if they're going to attempt to navigate their way through my journal anyway. :/
