<H1 class=subject>Systematic name for CH3(CH2)7CH2Cl?

how do you find the systematic name for CH3(CH2)7CH2Cl.

How do you decide if its an alkane or alkene?

Draw it roughly

We can see that it's an alkane from the singular bonds, but theres a chlorine atom attached at the end, so its a haloalkane.
We count the carbons theres 9
the prefix for 9 is nona-

So the molecule is 1-chloro-nonane.
1-chloro is the prefix for chlorine atom attached to the first carbon atom.

i think its 1-chloro nonane

Its an alkane not an alkene coz there is no double bond if you draw it out
