hi guys seeking some advice regarding my chosen subjects for y11 + 12.
my school has entry requirements for subjects but i got into everything that i tried out for, so the form i turned in had
1. eng adv
2. maths adv
3. maths ext 1
4. physics
5. chemistry
6. economics
7. studies of religion
--> total school units: 12
im also contemplating taking my language's continuers course as a subject, as it seems quite easy and scales pretty well too. this will be a total of 14 units.

my school requires us to do exactly 12 units in year 11, and studies of religion is my 1u filler subject to balance out my mx1.
my question is, is doing 1 extension + 2 sciences + eco a lot? im also not really used to working hard for exams and stuff as i only moved to a selective school this year. would it be too much to do 14u in y11 and 12u in y12 as someone who hasn't gotten the hang of studying a lot yet?

thank you, any advice will be appreciated

honestly 14 units in yr11 is quite a lot. i think it may end up causing you to stretch yourself way too thin and possibly impact on your grades. most schools will let you drop and change subjects in the first term, so maybe try seeing how 14 units goes then think about if you really want to do it, and if youre going to maintain the momentum to keep going with 14u

i shouldn't be too hard, a lot of ppl do content heavy subjects, just if u decide to take on the language and do 14 units, it MIGHT be a bit overwhelming. Maybe u can start off doing 14 (like @spiderfan44 said )and then drop whatever u think if taking up too much unnecessary time. however, if ur willing to grind and put in the effort, it could all work out just fine.

okay thanks guys, i may try 14u in y11 (as i have heard my language's course is almost no effort to those fluent in it) and end up dropping either chem or eco / sor in y12.

Drop SOR the rest are useful then during y12 decide what you are gonna drop from phys, chem, econ to do 4u or just to make more time for your other subjects

i cannot drop sor. my school makes us do no more and no less than 12 units, and sor is the only 1u subject you can pick. so everyone in my school doing one extension subject has to do sor

then pick 2 between chem ecco and phys, 3u is pretty good to have even if you end up dropping in the end
