Need help on the techniques and the effect of the techniques created within the following quotes:
As you like it (Shakespeare):
1. Not belonging: Where most people choose to belong to a place or person, some people choose to not belong at all (alienation).
Jaques to Duke Senior: "So to you pleasures, I am for other than dancing measures"
Explain: Jaques refuses Dukes invite to stay with him and his men and chooses to leave to go find the self-exiled Duke Frederick. Jaques is seen to belong to himself rather than anyone else.
- - - - - - - - - - -
2. Belonging: A sense of belonging can be fostered through relationships, this may be strengthened or broken down.
Rosalind and Celia: "To you I give myself for I am yours"
Explain: Coversation between Rosalind and Celia are witty and help us to understand their friendship as close- as they banter between each other- we see values and ideas to the society they belong to.
Thanks.
