the late rounds (1 Viewer)

I was just wondering, since the general consensus is to take the first offer no matter what it is in case you don't get a second, where do the vacancies come from for the late and final rounds?
I got into sydney, but I really want to go to UTS to do a communications degree. Journalism, hopefully, but i missed the uai by 0.4. I also want to do public communications or media studies, but what are the honest chances of getting an offer in any of these in the next round? I can't get onto UAC, it has been engaged since 8.30am

In additon there's are people who choose to defer their course hence those vacant places are given in 2nd round offers. Sometimes the head of the course will add in 1 or 2 places if beleive u are suitable for that particular course.
