Anthropomorphism and black humour "Dark grinned sardonically... thought it would be a good lark to drop the cartridge down on Jim"
Phonetic Dialogue "Your dorgs’ run orf inter the scrub"
Alliteration "dog dodged"
Onomatopoeic words "The publican was holding his wife... between her squawks”
Colloquial slang "ello Dave, hows the fishing getting on?”
Hyperboles “He’d retrieve anything; he carted back most of the camp rubbish Andy threw away”
