For those of you who have done the MX1 HSC past papers from 2000 onwards,

1. which year did you find the hardest?
2. what was the hardest question you encountered?

And do you guys have any problem solving tips for question 6-7?
(I know this is hard to give tips for but any info helps)

Thankyou.

1) 2005

2) Most q7s are of the same difficulty

I can only say think very, very logically. Go back to basic concepts, it's usually an obscure trig identity etc., or some hideous use of the quadratic formula, or using the sum of a geometric progression.

Most importantly, USE previous parts of the question to aid you in answering the final part. Eg say q7 has parts ci, cii, ciii, and civ. Use parts ci, cii and ciii to answer civ.

2005' s q7 was pretty easy... the geometry one was pretty stock standard and the stationary point q was also relativley easy..

The hardest q 7 i can remember doing is probably 08' s most of it was pretty simple but part e) was just plain stupid...

i hope this year' s wont have: i) hard projectile motion result that requires you to manipulate the shit out of it
ii) hard to see binomial theorem q

although we' re probably guaranteed one of those
