3 questions i don't get

1. Mesons have a life of 2.2 micro seconds. However, mesons formed in the atmosphere as air particles are hit by cosmic rays and take 16 microseconds to reach the ground..... calculate v

i got 4754.408 help!

2. An astronaut travelling at 0.5c takes 10 hours ship time to reach her destination. Calculate how much time has passed on earth.

i got 11.547 hours... prolly wrong again

3. The klingon captain notices that it takes 0.5s to fly past the stationary exterprise at 0.1c. Calculate the time of this flyby as meaasured by an oberver on the enterprise.

1.

t = t0/Sqrt[1 - v^2]
1 - v^2 = (t0/t)^2
v = Sqrt[1 - (t0/t)^2]
v = Sqrt[1 - (2.2 s/16 s)^2]
v = 0.99
That is, 99 % the speed of light, or 296944959 m/s.

2.
t = t0/Sqrt[1 - v^2]
The time dilation formula.

t = 10 h/Sqrt[1 - 0.5^2]
t = 11.5 h

3.
t = 0.5 s/Sqrt[1 - 0.1^2]
t = 0.57 s

Remember that the proper time t0 is the time measured by an observer at rest relative to the events.
