We already have this thread, maybe we should sticky it & then edit it with the timetable upon its release.

Yeah, May 1st. What subjects would you hate to be on the same day? I reckon ones that both require long essays.

Mathematics Extension 2, French Extension, Latin Extension and Cosmology (Distinction Course) (Top 4 scaled subjects).

Source: report on the 2007 scaling.

EDIT: Talking about "exams on the same day" in general.

Really? Are those the top scaling subjects?
Never figured cosmology/french extension would be on it.

Yep. The basis of rank was the average scaling.

Mathematics Extension 2 = 43.7/50 (average scaling)
French Extension = 41.2/50
Latin Extension = 41.1/50
Distinction Course = 40.6/50
Classical Greek Extenstion = 40.2/50
Latin Continuers = 40.0
Mathematics Extension 1 = 39.6

I will be doing 3 subjects above as well (I seriously hope I get into Cosmology).

i'm anxious about the two subjects in one day thing too... had that happen for half yearlys and ended up studying for one, so the other exam went to shit... but the subjects i do are fairly popular, so i don't think i have much to worry about...

*waits for someone to come along and post previous timetables that crush that hope*

...Did you realise they're doing their HSC now? Or do you mean their final exam?

I am sorry guys if I confused you over this.

Average scaled mark is basically average scaled mark out of all people who did the course. In Mathematics Extenstion, for example, the average scaled mark was 43.7/50 (basically out of 3009 people, the average SCALED mark was 43.7/50, which is really high considering that the average SCALED mark for Physics is 30.2/50).

i dont get those figures above ^^^^ plz explain how u interpret them.
How do you interpret them? The mark that I posted above are the AVERAGE SCALED MARK. The ALIGNED MARKS went through the process called SCALING and the SCALED MARKS are produced. SCALING is done to adjust the marks so that all subjects are on the equal grounds (that is because Mathematics Extension 2 is much harder exam than Biology, so Mathematics Extension 2 gives higher mark than Biology if both exams had the same or similar results).
