Out of curiosity, is it possible to transfer from doing an external course, to doing an internal course, providing one has achieved a high enough GPA?

Yes. Both are considered the same with regard to the eventual degree. Therefore you can transfer with the GPA.

I didn't know there was a difference (in UAI requirements) for external and internal study. But I can't see why not.
