Greetings everyone,

First time posting here so bear with me please :spin:

I've just received an offer for Enviro Science at Macq U. I completed my first year of Uni at UWS, Hawkesbury campus and I'm thinking about transferring.

Is it easy to jump to second year? (Assuming I get credit for all the units I've done).

What accommodation would you guys recommend? I've looked at RMC and Dunmore lang College but they are really expensive! I don't think I have it in me to ask that much money from my parents lol (time for a jerrb). And the other accommodations don't seem to have internet provided, whereas UWS internet was free, fast and unlimited.

How hard is the work? At UWS my marks were very average, all Ps and Crs. All tests had more multiple choice/short answer responses rather than long answer. Heck, Biology 1 & 2 were ALL multiple choice xD. My studies weren't taken very seriously but I'm looking to change that.

Is the area/community surrounding North Ryde Campus safe? Sometimes the Western line train can be quite an adventure, I don't think I've ever not seen a fight or some form of theft when on the train, mum also worries because it's so far away too (I'm from Jindabyne). And not that I dislike bogans (I do dislike lads though lol), it's just that looking even a slight bit different can net you some unwanted attention sometimes (just my experience from far west sydney).

What is the atmosphere like at Uni? I'd really like to pick up my studies. What kind of resources does Macq have that can help me with my studies? At UWS it was very chill, maybe a step beyond chill. Everyday people drank, even on finals people drank before their tests and I admit that I joined in and had a good time :p, but I don't want to be in an environment where studying is not taken seriously (not to say everyone was like this).

Are there many campus events?

Also, would you guys move from UWS to Macq if given the chance? The big con I think is leaving all my friends. I'm introverted and I didn't go out as much as others, but people still asked me if I wanted to join them, felt good man. Other than that it seems Macq > UWS for what I want education wise.

Thanks for reading, sorry for the constant UWS experience but that is what I'm accustomed to, as well as not the best use of english :p.

Cheers guys.

For private accommodation, which almost always has all bills (including internet) included in the rent, I would suggest this site- http://find.accommodation.mq.edu.au/. It's a lot cheaper than any of the on-campus accommodation.
I just recently found a place to live through this website, and I hope it helps you out too :)
Good luck with the transfer :)
