For what values of m does y=mx-1 provide one solution to y=cos (2x)?

I was wondering how to do these sorts of questions - for reference I made this question up and I was wondering if there's a way to solve this without trig derivatives which I have not learnt yet.

the solution is going to be the intercept of both. So equate them and solve pretty sure. idk why you would need derivatives (don't quote me tho not the brightest math student)
