1.A ship sailing in a direction 065 degrees true bearing, observes two lighthouses in a line due north. After travelling 4km one of the lighhouses bears 285 degrees true and the other 315 degrees true. Show that the distance between the lighthouse is:
4[(sin70/sin45)-(sin40/sin75)]
2. Three points P,Q and R lie in a horizontal plane. Angles RPQ and RQP are alpha and beta respectively. If PQ is x units in length, show that the perpendicular distance y from R to Pq is given by :
y = (x tan alpha tab beta) / (tan alpha + tan beta)
4[(sin70/sin45)-(sin40/sin75)]
