But ax approaching zero is equivalent to x approach zero so



Now manipulate your expression to look like this (i.e. multiplying and dividing constants to numerator and denominator) and apply the result.

You usually do it as part of differential calculus when you differentiate trig functions

Yes it is called trig functions and comes within differential and integral of trig functions topic but before that.
