UAI and ATAR (1 Viewer)

I was under the impression the ATAR, was calculated in the same fashion as the UAI. But i heard from somebody that they calculate all your units and then they figure it out, so basically if you do 11 or 12 and you screw up it still makes a huge difference. Even though they take the 10.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm Really worried.
