Both are full-blown dictionaries I highly recommend to ANYONE learning Jap! I went to Japan on exchange for 10 months and my iTouch dictionary was invaluable!!!
I downloaded the Japanese app for about $25 and used it constantly, but then I realized the Kotoba app is FREE and does basically the same stuff... so don't feel you HAVE to buy Japanese.
Trust me, they are pretty much the same thing.
When I got back from my exchange I told the kids in my Jap class about it and so I might as well tell you peeps about it too.
