how do you prepare for umat? i have no doubt it's difficult and challenging and all, but that doesn't mean you can't do anything to prepare for it right?
Well then your belief would be wrong. Some questions are repeated -I know this because someone I know did it twice (one year after the other) and got the same question.Originally posted by Huy
The questions may be different but you'll be challenging your mind and extending yourself all the same, as you must remember that each year, UMAT questions will differ (I don't believe that they recycle any questions for the following year). If you can complete questions on logical reasoning, problem solving and spatial tests, you would be fine.
Well the people paying for all that UMAT-coaching would disagree, they believe it can be learnt. The med selection process isn't the best at the moment anyway - particularly the principal's UAI prediction part determining first round interviews, I feel sorry for you local studentsOriginally posted by Huy
I don't believe that you can acquire the skills necessary for Medicine entrance just by doing a couple of tests, reading about things and completing mind-exercises, (and this may sound cheesy), but you've either got what it takes or you don't.
I've only sat for UMAT once. I didn't think that for a "high stakes" test, that ACER would repeat questions.Originally posted by j-belle

Of course, but I wouldn't fork out a few hundred dollars just for the preparation courses - it could be money better spent (eg PowerBook, hehe). My principal was really easy with me, he simply asked "so what do you think you are?" (UAI) - I didn't really want to blow my own horn, but he ended up predicting 99 UAI and top 2% of the state (which is, by the way, not true of me! ).Originally posted by j-belle

I think so too, and I also agree with your Principals comment.Originally posted by Saul
im fairly sure they cut most people out if they have a predicted less than 98... but schools do tend to be generous with estimates
But you see as long as you were offered an interview and did well, you can be comfortable with even 96. We without the faith of the principal, however, do not have such luxury.Originally posted by Saul
i think i got a 99 estimate, but i dont think i'll break 98
