I desperately want to go to Uni and of course I've been striving. I've applied 4 courses (Totally I can apply for 6 courses because I'm an international student) which are:

  • Bachelor of Nursing at UWS
  • Bachelor of Nursing at University of Wollongong
  • Bachelor of Computer Science (Mobile Computing) at University of Wollongong
  • Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology at UWS, Parramatta campus

Here comes the "doggy" part. As I indicated below, I'm an international student so choosing courses is really important to me because it decides where my future goes. Honestly, I want to choose a course that helps me to gain more knowledge so I can work and apply for Australian visa, once again I'm sorry if it sounds "doggy". The followings are my questions:

  1. I checked the special requirements applying for Nursing and it requires the English proficiency, they require qualifications such as IELTS or TOEFL. I born overseas (VN) and I studied ESL for the HSC, is there a possibility for me to get into the course?
  2. It's my future so I will be honest, apart from Nursing, is there any jobs that the Australian government needs?
  3. What is B of Community Welfare about?

Thanks all :) (If you have any ideas that could help me choosing my courses, please comment)

I'm pretty sure the health sector is in need for people, so your choice in nursing might allow you to stay in Australia because it's in demand.
IMO, I think Nursing or Teaching is your best option because:
1. Job Prospects
2. Secure and is long lasting even when you're old (I think)

P.S. are you from the Fairfield/Liverpool area?

You do know that you're eligible for regional bonus points at UWS yeh? (I don't know if it'll work for international students though)

Hi, If you have studied for at least one full year in Australia in the English medium, if you can provide evidence of this, then this may possibly meet our English language proficiency requirement. If not, you would need to sit the IELTS test and obtain a 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 result in each subtest. Nursing is a government supported course as there currently is a high shortage of nurses in Australia. Therefore, job prospects upon course completion are quite high. For more information on graduate outcomes, please contact the B Nursing course advisor. To find out who the course advisor is, simply conduct a course search via the UWS Handbook: www.uws.edu.au/handbook. In regards to the Bachelor of Community Welfare, the course is for students who want to work in human services, such as community development and social action. For more information on this course, please contact the Course Information line on 1300 897 669 or on study@uws.edu.au. Best regards, UWS Course Info.
