Hello,

I was doing some stuff on t-results and my textbook let t=tanx (instead of t=tan(x/2)) for some examples and I have no idea why.

How come this is the case?

Thanks

Most probably the integral has a double angle in it.

E.g. Cos2x- so just pretend the 2x = a, and then you can let t=tan(a/2) ,if you like.
