Hi, I'm in year 12 rn and im planning on doing some sort of software engineering and business degree in uni. However, I am stuck on which uni to go to, especially with the ATAR requirement difference for UTS. The courses I would study are:

UTS: Bach of Information Tech and Bach of Business (4 years)
USYD: Bach of Adv Computing and Commerce (5 years)

I am mainly worried about employability and how easily it will be for me to find internships within my 2nd or 3rd year of uni. I have applied for an early entry offer for UTS and am considering leaning towards UTS if I do get accepted as it can take a lot of the HSC stress away, however the 'prestige' image of USYD is also tempting me along with its campus. While the UTS campus is easily accessible, i feel like it lacks a lot of soul TT. The UTS degree has a 85 SR which is much more realistic for me, while USYD has a 96 ATAR requirement... If there are any current students studying any of the courses I listed, any advice or information would be great!

Usyd solos uts but don’t do adv computing its a bit of a scam, you can just do bcom/bsc with comp sci major (this should also be 4 years). anyway you can accept the UTS offer and you won’t be locked in until you enrol which happens after hsc results usually, so you can wait and see your ATAR before fully deciding, so the UTS offer can take some stress off while keeping the usyd option open.

I’m doing comp sci at usyd and it is decent (even if there is problems), unsw seems as though it’s still the best for comp sci but usyd has improved a lot, and in terms of employability for commerce usyd will likely be a decent bit better than uts and for comp sci it’d be closer but still likely usyd better (your personal performance like marks and interviews etc matters a lot more than ur uni though). also worth noting IT can be quite different to comp sci, obv depends what ur looking for but if you want to become like a software dev comp sci makes a bit more sense

Hi thanks, what is the major difference between IT and Compsci? I thought it was mainly the math aspects of it tbh...
