Members of BOS,
It has unfortunately come to our attention that somebody is setting up fake versions of the Bored of Studies website with the intention to steal member's login and password information.
The scam operates by seemingly innocently linking to a page that appears to be on Bored of Studies which is in fact an external fake page created by the scammer. This page will contain a login box which if filled in will pass the login and password information to them.
An example of a PM sent by the scammer is:
Always check that the address in the address bar is 'http://community.boredofstudies.org/' or 'http://boredofstudies.org/'
We are working to close down any fake sites as they appear and are deleting suspect threads and personal messages but we ask all members to be vigilant.
Is my account and information safe?
It should be noted that this is not a breach in our systems nor has it been 'hacked'. Phishing relies on tricking a member to disclose their details. So long as you do not do so, your account will be secure.
