Remember that esprit trench I was talking about?

I was stupid enough to think that I could have a week to think about it, and not put the item on hold or anything. A week later when I'd decided I was going to buy it, the only XS was on hold and the S didn't fit. They did a NSW check for me - no other XS in black was avaliable in the whole of NSW. A few in Victoria and Adelaide though, but they said I'd have to go there to get them.

A few weeks later I was in Birkinhead and the manager of that store rang around all the NSW stores again - she was SO nice! She said there were still a few interstate and I should ring up Head Office and try to get those remaining coats via money order. So I have been - every single day since tuesday.

Got through to them today, and all the black XS's are sold out in Australia :(

And it was such a nice coat too :( I should have listened to you guys when you told me to buy it on the spot :( (same goes for the Alannah Hill jacket which I missed out on, not to mention a 50% sale on DeLorenzo hair products in bulk - I could have saved $90 :( )

moral of the story folks - when you find something you like, BUY IT or put it on hold IMMEDIATELY. Don't take things for granted otherwise you'll be kicking yourselves majorly.

No kidding :(

Ever since I got the call that they're all sold out, I've been sitting here thinking "damn... I should have listened to brogan". (in all seriousness)

how about no? i've found numerous things i really wanted to liked but could never afford or wont have money to pay for. ask yourself is it really worth? i delay when i'm not sure whether i really need or want the item for the price they state so i wait and i'm sure it will be sold or i get over it. there are times i had lots of money but the asking price was too much. i mean, if i really, really wanted it i'd buy it regardless of the price. so really you spend too much and should move on. there'll always be something else to waste your money on or grab your attention.

I'm a pretty conservative buyer, I tend to only "like" things if I in fact love them, and will "love" items that I am head-over-heels in love with and will be a great asset to my existing wardrobe.

However it does logically make sense that there'll always be something else (possibly better) to spend your money on.

how many times i've noticed someone state that they had a great deal then next week found the price much lower or an even better deal on a hotter item. that's what happened when i got my blue yd. shirt but i didn't feel remorse because i really loved that shirt and KNEW it would still be available and at a lower price and got it only to have the price plummet the next week. even if i didn't get it there would always be a better deal later on. this is fashion, it comes and goes. i'm sure you'll find something nicer later on. :)

Me too. I don't buy anything I don't really really really like.

There are many nice trenchcoats if you keep looking. You might not have liked the Esprit one that much if it wasn't sold-out nation-wide. We all want what we can't get. :p

Hey you've still gotta watch out for those impulse purchases... It's easy to think "oh no it might not be here later" and then buy it and then decide that you didn't really want it...

awww Lynn! That sux big time! I agree with bubz though, keep looking around, there might be another that you'll like. Or you could keep checking at Espirit. They might have left some in the back or got some from interstate!

i do that with shoes!! Bought a gorgeous pair of Tony Bianco's from Myer a few months ago and they were a size 7 (i'm a 7.5), really uncomfortable, really tight, but really really REALLY gorgeous. So i bought them and kept the receipt, walked around for a bit in them at home, and decided I couldn't let them go lol It's a great idea, but make sure the store has a return/refund policy!
