i would usualli have those programs open:

- 2-5 windows
- kazaa
- msn/trillian
- ms word
- real player for music

and soemtimes the cpu usage is lyk 80%, my friend's cpu usage is heapz lower than mine even though he has twice as many programs + games, anyone know why? cuz its really slowing my comp down, and it freezes heapz

thankz

lin :p

The core problem in that list is Kazza.

linda, those 2-5 windows, are they Internet Explorer windows?

try using MyIE2, Avant, or something similar to those. They save memory like anyhting

It's trillian thats problem I think.

I used to use trillian but stopped because it made everything else load a lot slower and my hdd runs like crazy.

So now im using normal MSN and it's much better on the cpu load.

ZZZzzzz.. time

for an alternative browser, try Mozilla Firefox;
abode acrobat hogs CPU if it isn't shut down properly in the browser viewer;
use winamp (?);
discontinue use of windows blinds;
add more RAM (512MB)

yeah, mozilla is awesome, but some page displays may not turn out correctly.
Adobe - use arspeedup - it removes unnecessary plug-ins

also make sure you have enough disk space, clear out old files, and defrag.

the more junk you have on your computer, the slower it runs. :)
