Yeah, as per the title, I can't access WebCT Vista using windows vista (the browser seems to be irrelevent: I tried both IE7 and FF2, same problem). The problem is that the WebCT page (vista.elearning.unsw.edu.au) simply will not load when using Windows Vista (works fine on XP). Other uni's WebCT Vista pages work fine ( I have a friend here and we just tried), so this leads me to believe there's something up with UNSW's WebCT Vista server hating on Windows Vista, but I thought I'd confirm: anyone else suffer this problem?

Nah it's not that it's down. I had this problem through the winvista beta program but never thought twice about it since I still used XP on my main computer. However now that I'm using vista full time, I'd like to be able to access WebCT like I could before, as it is kind of handy. Might send off an email to IT services, although if no one else experiences this (using Vista; remember it works fine for me on XP), then it's more likely a problem on my end.

Although it does seem strange that all other uni's WebCT Vistas work...

so it can reload it all over aagain, not just from the cookied stored by ur webbrowser. =]

I can confirm this. Thought it was just an x64 problem though. If you're running the x64 version of Vista, try running IE in 64-bit mode (its in the Programs menu).

Or, right click the shortcut for the browser you're using, and emulate XP SP2.
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately still no luck :(

I'm running 32 bit, but I tried running firefox in compatibility mode for xpsp2 and no luck. IE7 has its compatibility stuff greyed out because it's "part of this version of Windows."

I have managed to get a page title though, the "My eLearning Vista: Institution Listing" appears in the titlebar of the browser, just none of the page loads. And it never tries to give up loading (i.e. it doesn't time out).

Nah, Firefox is pretty awesome, haven't tried opera though... I can't imagine anything better than firefox, really. Unless it used like no CPU whatsoever.
basically ;)

and not to mention Tabbed browsing. so much more cleaner than the individual windows in Firefox. =]

even my p3 - 450mhz doesn't lag iwth it ... unlike it does with I.E
haven't tried firefox on it though.

Just discovered that http://www.timetable.unsw.edu.au/ also will not load.

I'd try opera, but I'm so convinced that it's not a browser issue since both IE7 and FF2 work fine with XP installed.

It is certainly odd though, how can an operating system have this sort of affect? I tried disabling windows firewall and avast, still same issue.

Umm IE has tabbed browsing and uses far less memory.

Well I had an idea, and it has fixed my problem, but it's not something I want to institute long-term. In internet options I set it to use a proxy server, and everything works great. Shall we say definitely a problem on UNSW's end then?

I'm running vista 32-bit, and haven't had any problems with WebCT Vista, so I don't think its something on UNSW's end...but then i could be wrong
