so a friend of mine works night shifts at the abattoirs and he's not sure if what they're doing is completely a-ok.
he worked last night/yesterday morning until 1.30 this arvo and now they've said he has to start at 9.30 tonight. his sign out book says he finished at 1.30, but he didnt leave till bout 1.50 and they encourage them to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the shift. that barely scrapes to 8 hours between the shifts. ive told him that theyve legally covered themselves cos officially stuff says he's had 8 hours between shifts. is that right?

Tell him to check with his union. However, it all seems fine to me.

He should READ his EBA/AWA that should answer the question, next step contact his union rep or the Workplace Infoline 1300 363 264.
