Hey guys,

I was just wondering on any of your views on George Clooney's new movie Good Night and Good Luck.

My english class has just begun studying it for our feature film section, and pretty much everyone (including the teacher) found the story line extremely dry and boring. Whilst the movie may have had great meaning and depth, it failed to satisfy the audience.

I found it difficult to remain awake and concious whilst I was watching it and trying to actually get into it.

What are your views?

i think he evoked a good atmosphere and it appeared somewhat less derivative of soderbergh (his first film as director 'confessions of a dangerous mind' seemed guilty of this). so nice production

and as far as a 'take home message' i like any film about media integrity in the face of bullshit. so i think it's a timely film too

yeah, what walrus said.

i didn't find it boring at all... i loved the sleek, noir-ish photography and the jazz singer interludes, and straithairn's perfectly modulated and quietly intense performance.

the scenes where he's taking names were as 'kickass' as any action film i've seen recently.

i loved the quiet irony of the jazz interludes ("i've got my eye on you") and strathairn's inspiring, beautifully low-key performance.

i really felt like a smoke afterwards... loved the cinematography and all the costumes, makeup etc.

but most of all i think clooney is a genius for perfectly merging real footage of mcarthy in with the film, and the way it makes poignant drama out of crucial moments in history.

to the thread creator i say

take a 'no-doz' and watch it again.
