I am going to do a Bachelor of Chem. Eng., however I narrowly missed out on doing a B. Eng./B. Sc. is it still possible I can take on a Bachelor of Science along with my Chemical Engineering degree?? If so how soon and how do I do it????

Only way is to transfer next year... You need to do a full 48 CPs this year.

What do you want your major in the B Sc to be? If it's chemistry or maths, you can have the regular BE enrolment.

If it's, say, biology, you may need to vary some subjects and hope you get the transfer.

86.25, next year...that stinks, as for the major, Biology, what do you mean by varying subjects and how do I do it?

Also, how high does the GPA have to be to get the transfer? and would I have to do first year subjects, in the second year?

Basically the standard first-year programme is:

S1
MATH1001
MATH1002
CHEM1101
ENGG1800
**ENGG1801**

S2
MATH1003
MATH1005
CHEM1102
**ENGG1803**
CHNG1103

In the BE/BSc you drop the units with a star around them and do the standard 12 CPs of BIOL instead so you can move into second-year biology (replacing CHEM2404 an CHEM2403 in your second-year) at the same time. Since you are not in the combined degree, you are not 'allowed' to do this.

BUT, that doesn't mean you can't. i.e. you could go to the first-year advisor (A/Prof Majorie Valix or the undergraduate co-ordinator A/Prof Howard See), explain your situation and how you intend to transfer next year and they may let you do the BIOL1001 and 1002 (don't know the exact units) subjects. If you don't see them OR they say 'no!', and you can drop ENGG1801 and 1803 (for this, you need to be game), as long as you get the transfer next year to a BE/BSc you will be able to continue on as if you were enrolled in the combined degree the entire time. If you don't get the transfer, you may be a little screwed (again ask the year advisor).

I don't know how high your GPA needs to be (just say as high as possible) but you may be able to do the BIOL first units in your second year instead of Chemistry, which mightn't be that bad considering ENGG1801 helps you a lot in CHNG2802.

If all else fails can I do first year Biology during my second year at uni? I am totally ok with that if it's true

Absolutely assuming you make the BE/BSc transfer. The year advisor then might let you do them instead of CHEM2404/2403 if you make it clear you want to transfer if you don't.

Or you can do them third year as general electives (you get two in the BE course) instead of polymer and biochemical engineering. I have a feeling with that UAI and a credit average, you'll get the transfer though.

credit average should get you into a BE/BSc degree. I barely had a credit average and was able to transfer from BE.

There was an option (not sure if it exists anymore) to do science after two years of engineering, and then coming back to finish off engineering. Search the faculty website.

the engineering double degree? I think that's only for BE/BSci and it works out only if you plan to major in some of the subjects taken as part of the engineering degree. At least for the electrical/telecom/etc streams (the major has to be either physics, maths or IT...otherwise it gets pretty tricky).

No, I don't think so, I'm definately sure I can do Biology as a major if I take on a B.Sc. alongside Chem. Eng.

If you do the double degree in science and (chemical) engineering, you can ONLY major in mathematics if you get the second-year CHEM requirements waived (not sure if they do this) OR chemistry if you are given special permission to do CHEM2401/2402 instead of CHEM2404/2403.

You need to do the combined degree for a biology major.

Basically, you'll need to transfer through UAC.
