Ok serious question here. Let's say there's some teenager over the age of consent who has a sexual relationship with their teacher. WHAT'S THE HARM?

Discuss in relation to at least one text studied throughout the semester.

personally, i see nothing wrong with it.

16 year olds are old enough. no such thing as a power imbalance.

But the teacher is taking advantage of the students trust!!! They have HYPNOTISED the student, clearly.

look if you say you're in support of it, you're clearly a pedophile

People in relationships take advantage of their partners trust all the time - so i dont rly see the difference. If the student is above age and is consenting then it should b ok.

It's so different when it's a female teacher and male student imo
Different and hot. I reckon that that relationship gets the balance right, but for good measure people should always abstain.
Penetration has a lot to do with it imo

So long as it doesn't impact on testing/exam results. There must be no leniency in assessment.

If you're going to ban this due to power imbalance, they might as well criminalize teens sleeping with their friends parents. I don't see the difference.

Should the rule of half your age + 7, be put into legislation?

If we're going to go down that road...

Shouldn't we scrap the whole "age of consent" nonsense anyway, since the age is quite irrelevant. What matters most is a combination of physical and emotional maturity, which is quite oftennot measurable with a mere age tool.

A well developed young lady is potentially more able to deal with a relationship with a teacher than an under developed 18 year old who is out of school.

I propose special sex courts, where minors apply and get rated on sexual sexyness and maturity. They then register the verdict at the same place they get their car licence

there will be a sex fee

Yes, but not if it is a student in the same school that the teacher is employed at. That is clearly a conflict of interest. The current policy (in QLD) is teachers cannot have a relationship with a student in ANY school - which seems silly to me...

That seems unreasonable, we allow relationships within all levels of workplaces, why should schools be different?

I don't see why it should be impossible for adults in a consenting relationship to act in an honest manner, so long as there are checks and accountability.
