be calm. make yourself a timetable.

and give yourself rewards. ie, bowl of ice cream? after an hour of study. then do another hour? [or another amount of time] and go outside, get some fresh air, go for a walk etc. TIMETABLE AND STICK TO IT!!!

don't be too unrealistic in your timetabling.

and don't worry, we've still got a while until the hsc, you'll get over this soon =]].

Burning out sucks, but you really need sleep or you'll have no chance. Take a days break and come back later

...or just eat some ice cream

thanks guys, im trying so hard but i just feel so unmotivated. so over worked.
im sure everyones feeling the same way
i hsould just suck it up! URGH!
i frustrate myself so much.

i have legal on monday, and im ranked 2nd in my class.
I really should be staying there, but i have no notes, and everytime i sit down i burst into tears.

i have never "burnt out" before.
I tried to make a time table, i even went to the lib today
all i did was stare at my books and write "notes" without taking anything in for 2 hours before i gave up.

omg. im freaking out.

If you freak out or try and push yourself now it won't do any good - relax, sleep, and then focus on doing a bit of work over the weekend, thats the only way ive found to get over it

yeah see ive churned through 4 hours a night at my desk every single school day this term
plus endless amounts of time thinking/doing work on the weekends

but its the only way i can get good marks....

and now when it counts my brain decides that right now it would be a great time to NOT RETAIN ANYTHING
*dies*

lucky for me my ancient exam was only 10% ( i didnt study directly before that exam at all :( )

and legal is only 15%

my modern history was 30% though for our first task WTF!

- Don't overreach. This isn't the main HSC exams; don't stess out more than you should. Stressing does nothing but distract you.
- Set realistic targets for studying - not in the amount of hours studied a day, but content-wise. Say, "three chapters of content today", not "five hours of studying today". Break the content up into manageable chunks that themselves are rewards.
- Get plenty of sleep, plenty of exercise, eat healthily (I don't recommend a bowl of ice-cream every half an hour :p)
- I often find it helpful to listen to a single CD or even a single song on repeat while studying for a particular subject or parts of that subject - you can both tune it out as well as associating it to the song for easy memory jogging
- My study/reward system when I'm doing uni exams is usually as follows - study 12pm-10pm with plenty of breaks inbetween, rewarding myself with two sugarfree red bull cans per day and a bowl of original corn chips a day.

If you are having trouble now there is no way you will make it through the HSC, let alone university.

make sure u get adequate sleep and exercise. eat well - a balanced diet helps. plan a study timetable and stick to it rigidly. make sure u give your eyes a rest - eg. dont study then watch tv straight away - go outside and get fresh air as well - your eyes need a rest. these tips helped me a lot!

Oh ok, I thought you meant four hours after school (which is a lot). Four hours for a whole day sounds good, but break it up + timetable

Gotta love stress eating - I downed almost a whole bag of red licorice tonight cos I was behind schedule on my English assessment
