I am looking to buy a new Graphics Card but i am not sure which one to buy, Can anyone help me?

Please post up some info Silent_Sniper such as:

• Budget
• Monitor Size
• Level of use
• Finally if for some strange reason you would say no to a certain card brand (ATI or NVIDIA)

If you can tell me atleast your budget then i'd recommend one.

Personally i'd buy a 4870 @ 512MB, maybe 1GB if your monitor is 22'. Not only will this option save you some cash but also provide good performance.

Your other option is perhaps a 285, those were 580 last i checked at MSY. This 285 costs more however it will beat a 4870.

Other notables cards are the 260, one's that have been built on the newer 216 core are better then a 4870 however those ones afaik cost just as much as a 4870.

Otherwise if you wanted top of the line then you could save up another 200 max and buy a 4870x2 or a GTX295 which are both very power house cards.

Just a heads up, unless if you want alot of help from me...don't buy the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.

It is alot of work if you intend to use windows vista 64bit

Get the 4850/4870, great cards, you wont regret it. Have a look at MSY for some good prices.

4870x2 or 4870 if u got the money, if u on a budget guess a 8800gt would be fine

hv u got a pcie or a pcie 2.0 m/board

for that money u can probably get a good gtx 260 or 280 or maybe a gtx285 when they come down in price

that is the fastest single core card on the market btw. Really worth buying.

Or u can get another $400 and grab a gtx 295 if ur really after performance lol

I'm on a budget and the computer I'm getting has a 9400M (i.e 9400 GT but uses 256mb of CPU's DDR3 memory). How well will this fare in gaming?

I'm usually a year or two behind the times in the games industry and generally play RPGs anyway, so I'm hoping it'll be fine for at least 3 years.

yeh um, 9400 is a really low end card. if ur only playing low graphics or older games then you will be able to run them, but probably not at full settings.

can you get it upgraded, even to a 9600 or 9800 cause 9400 is really, really base model.

I spose it will be all right for 2 yr old games but if u get the urge to play some newer stuff (Flashpoint 2!!!!), then u'll probably notice pretty slack performance

You will get reasonable performance because it is, well, a 9-series card, but compared to some of the bigger names out there, for not that much extra cash, it is pretty crap.

atm ATI got the best gpus and the best one now would be the 4870 but if ur on a low scale budget then consider trying to get a 9600 gt 1gb, its very good for playing crysis on very high YouTube - 9600gt crysis very high but for gaming u should also consider about getting other parts like 4gb of RAM or a really good cpu.

It's built-in. No upgrade possible. Good to know it works with at least average performance.

The comp will have 4 GB of RAM and it'll be DDR3 which is about 1 Ghz in speed. Obviously I'd prefer dedicated GPU RAM, but besides that the 9400 (i.e. the one with on-board RAM) is a decent card, right?

Im assuming you're getting a laptop, and the 9400m will give you perfectly playable performance on medium settings, but if you try to max out the settings you might notice performance drops - depends a bit on the rest or your system, but 4gb of ddr3 wont let you down either.

get sli 9800 GTX
from xfx or eVGA
our eyes do not see the difference
in graphics with these high end games
sli 9800's GTX or even sli xfx 9600 GTs
will let you play crisis on max settings
and any other game that is thrown at you
