in the spirit of changing this thread from some gay ass artsfaggot thread to a healthy SCIENCE thread, i postulate the following problem which has been bugging me.

Say you have some piperine which you've extracted from black pepper with DCM:

And you oxidise it with, say, KMnO4 (mild oxidising agent yes?), it changes to piperonal, amirite?

Easy. Now it's pretty easy to convert this to MDA, if you have the right materials and tools. How does one go from this structure to something that can be converted to MDMA? Clearly a carbon needs to be added. Perhaps to achieve something like isosafrole.

I cbf'ed to look back at my chem2402 notes to see what could be done there. Anyone got any thoughts? We're aiming to achieve this structure...

This is all purely theoretical. I have neither the tools nor the wish to synthesise my own home made drugs

MDA is itself a drug worth manufacturing. If you were like...into that shit. The differences between it and MDMA are lost on most drug users, considering that ecstacy often contains a mixture of those two, one of those two, or a nice cocktail of anything the hell else.
