It's not that. It's just that Lazio started to complain after Kiko had scored his first goal for us. Otherwise this wouldn't even have been mentioned.
yeah they had their chance to keep him on their books and blew it. it's one thing losing a player in a multi-club tug-of-war because he is such a hot prospect, but its another to lose a player because you failed to provide any aid for his impoverished family.

2.8 million is still alot of money to be 'helping someone out' though, considering the father was asking lazio for euros 500 a month.

that being said, this isnt a good precedent, if their wasnt one before.

I think it has been blown out of proportion. Believe me, if he showed ability at Lazio, they would have bent over backwards to make him happy. I reckon the kid was just agitating for a move to a bigger club and used the sympathy angle to whoo the British media to perfection.

Probably the real story is somewhere in the middle. Lazio wanted him but werent prepared to compete with man utd's finances and had to let him go.

Either way, i think he'll be forgotten come end of year.

Back on topic, how epic were Torres' first and Agger's goal's last night? Fuck Agger can hit one from distance for a centre half.
I think he had like 2 or 3 shots from that range earlier with all of them ending up in about row 150, lol

So you're saying he didn't show ability at Lazio? Well if he didn't then we wouldn't have signed him.

man, did you seem him a week ago against tottenham?

he was playing CB first half, then ben roberts got injured. so big sam threw him upfront in the second period, with the intention of lobbing long balls upto him, and tottenhams defenders no clue on how to defend him.

probably because samba didnt know what he was doing either.

twas pretty funny to watch.

Obviously he showed some ability, otherwise he wouldn't have been at Lazio. I still think he agitated the move to Utd though.

The best bit of business Fergie ever did was with a 17 year old. Gets 12 million for Mikel... and he never even set foot in Old Trafford!

Chelsea and Utd both wanted Mikel. Mikel wanted to go to Chelsea. Norwegian club said Utd had acted unethically and sued. FIFA rules that Mikel goes to Chelsea, but only after compensation of 4 mill to Norwegian club and 12 mill to Utd. Utd get a massive sum for a player who never set foot in their club. Money directly finances Carrick from memory.
