now getting vista for my desktops

I have it on ly laptop and it kills XP int erms of versatility, although yes i gotta agree that the only downside is that it is very hardware demanding and could slow down a computer, but by the looks of the spec that people running in their boxes and laptops. Vista should have no problems, Its Awesome!!!

You need a bare minimum of 2gb of ram to use vista for gaming on decent settings, and 4gb for really good performance. My friend has recorded vista using 700mb of ram at idle. When gaming it takes a whole lot more. You also need a graphics card just to run the desktop... Plus the whole UAC thing is complete crap.

Unfortunately you can't run tri sli GTX295 because they are dual core graphics cards. If you ran tri sli then you would have six cores, which nvidia doesn't support, only four. Still, even running 2 of them you have quad sli, which would be awesome.

i'm suprised so many people have overclocked systems
i myself have an e8400 on ep45-ud3r running at 3708, but that's because i haven't bothered tweaking it more.
went from 333 -> 350 -> 400 -> 412 fsb, that's all i've done (tweaked memory a bit, but voltages etc have remained the same). once i get an aftermarket cooler i'll tweak a bit more

entire pc cost me about 1k so all good; i don't game often

I'm considering this board. In regard to overclocking, does the board offer much?
G31 right? Will it matter if I go with g31 instead of p45 with an e5200? I will be overclockn a little to play games

I wouldnt mate, as the board is only a budget board and it wasnt really made for o.c'ing, although i wouldnt see a problem with doing it, its just your better of with a more higher performing board. But then again, thats just what i think.

That's true. It also dpeneds a bit on the manufacturer and the extras that they've added in, such as cooling etc as to the level of overclock you can get from any mboard.
