Yes

Plus stop all distractions
lol cmon
you cant stop ALL distractions ( tv comp etc) or else life just becomes pitiful and crappy and then the EFFICIENCY of the studying you do reduces so much..because you then have nothing to look forward to ...you'll get so bored you will fall apart!!
my " DISTRACTION" is just my sibling and i cant relly stop him LOL .

Re: FUCK, we all know how to work hard, but how do you

I can't understand why people can't work with distractions.

For example, MSN is a big distraction for me, but my solution is to appear offline and tell nobody that I'm actually signed in, then after I've done all my studies, I appear online then I talk to people.

Also with music, I play it softly in the background so it doesn't distract me, it actually helps me think.

or you could try going to your local library and study there? I find it easier to study outside my home, as there's not as many distractions outside... :)

he could've brought food.
fair point about the toilet thing, though some people can probably go without for that long

Re: FUCK, we all know how to work hard, but how do you

was that working smart, or was the effectiveness of your study reduced because you hadn't taken a break, which means the information you were studying wasn't memorised as well as if you had taken interval breaks?

mmm, i agree with ^

I don't think it would have been reduced. I've done that sort of study at the library before, it works.

mmm, I do the same with msn. As for music, it completely distracts me - I find myself writing lyrics in the middle of an essay!

Yeah, songs with a lot of lyrics don't work for me.
I tend to either listen to instrumentals or asian music (because I don't understand the lyrics) when studying. It's the melody that helps me think.

I don't think there is a specific timeframe for studying. You need to study consistently, then about a month before the trials, do past HSC/Trial papers.

Also, for the trials, it depends what school you go to. If you go to a selective, catholic or independant school - most likely yes. If you're school's public and they write their own trials, it's really hard to predict and you'll have to look in your school's archives for past papers and see the trends.
