so, ive got 4 uni friends:
3 in bios (2 from labs and 1 coz he's in my chem tute as well)
1 in chem (from chem lab)
but we dont hang in the breaks because i dont think they're the same

dont have any in maths or education
dont really like my education tute class, we had speeches and as i was saying mine a group of people were giving each other "the look" and ive had enough of people like that from high school

plus im not really a people person (or ive never had a really good friend)

...and someone i know has said that you dont really get good friends in uni,
its more like "acquaintances" every semester

Aw. I'd hang with you!...except I think I have a similar problem, ie not being wildly talkative or a people person  we could...have long, meaningful silences over coffee?

I know what you mean. I used to get that too.

btw i am not really a twilight fan and my display name has nothing to do with it. i did like the movie though.

i couldnt agree more. although i think its not just uni, i think that its hard to find really good friends even throughout one's life, just like it is to find your 'significant other'. good things and people are always hard to find, but that doesnt mean that u should stop trying though :)

hope i didnt sound too melodramatic lol

How was your trip to taronga zoo btw?
Um. It was zooish.

it was alright :) would have been better if we didn't have to fill in a bunch of worksheets (mostly counting and identifying birds). But I guess that was the whole point in going. (And the nocturnal animals were SO CUTE. A possum the size of my thumb! :shy: )

hmm...starting to think that 'lonely bos people society' may not be such a bad idea...

This is how my first year went.

I remember my tactic back in 1st year was to get msn addresses off people I talked with. It always worked. From there, I could talk with them further, arrange to meet up, etc. etc. I made a more lasting impression that way and even then, I networked off their friends until it got to the point where it became a simple game of 'connect the dots' (You know him/her! I do too!). I noticed that whenever you both knew someone, the conversation sort of got easier because you could slowly get over the 'complete random' factor because of mutual association.

For the most part, I didn't obviously make close friends with everyone I spoke to but I did make a lot of acquaintances and through them, even more. I actually hate socialising but I realised the fear of being alone for 4 years was worth the effort. It didn't end there either. I got involved in some clubs, did Yellow Shirts the next year, went overseas to New Zealand for a student conference and just kept it up.

Eventually, I got sick of it all by 2nd year. Too much people had a lousy effect on my marks and once I found myself in a relationship, my priorities changed completely.

That was my first year. Nowadays, I have my gf, I have friends, I have heaps of acquaintances and my marks have picked up.

Whether you want to or can do what I did is up to you. Also, it depends on where you are in terms of faculty.

As in if you do engineering and you don't do any extracurriculars at uni/go to college, chances are, you're fucked when it comes to meeting girls (hahhahah). And if you're not gonna change your situation, no one else will so it won't end.

That's it.

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to tommykins again"
(hm, must've repped you once before.)

You deserve like x100 rep for that. however I imagine if you actually met me you'd be sorely disappointed.

(edit: and just in case anyone's wondering if my sim avatar is a likeness of me - the only real similarity is the hair colour. and the fact that I have a dress with that polka dot pattern on it. )

It isn't but erm is right, at least in the first year.

I think I said it in the past though, if you're asian, you do com/law/med and you went to selective school, chances are, you'll probably end up knowing half the people in your faculty anyway?
Na I was agreeing with her, not really against her then...but what you said is right.

but then I wouldn't be missanonymous7 any more! I'd be missnoweveryoneknowswhatIlooklike(andhaveprobablyrunaway)7. (And having a username that long would totally stuff up/stretch the screen etc; see, it's just not practical.)

besides, I'm absolutely fine with people still believing (however falsely) that I'm hot. :p

I should have made that face so you'd have some idea, but you recognised me by then.
Was awkward especially how I sneaked up on you.
