yea have been listening to shellac and big black for a while, battles are a bit to ADD for me,

k. honestly i'm not hugely into this stuff but hey i'll give it a shot...



  • my disco (like duh)
  • no age
  • lightning bolt
  • anything no-wave (just get the compilation no new york it's undeniably great. and sonic youth's self-titled ep has this ethos in spades minus the fucked up vocals)

  • oneida - secret wars (i guess i would call it 'noise-rock' but it's not as spastic as something like lightning bolt...so you might like it)
woo dot points!

edit: oh yeh, this album that i chanced upon last year some time. 'arms' by 'Zs', also great.

listened to a bit of lightning bolt when i first got into dfa1979,

have heard good things about no age, thankyou!

make sure you check out 'rusty' by rodan
early don caballero is also good
some post-rodan bands are also ok (the shipping news, june of 44)

The second lot are more 'minimalist' than the first.

If your looking for more 'flow' look up the genre post-rock. If you want something heavier, go for 'mathcore'
