I know how much everybody loves hearing about everybody's elses life stories, so I've decided to give you all a treat and provide a little insight into my life - purely for your enjoyment.

It's actually not so much about my life story currently, but rather what I want my life story in the future to be.

English Advanced - I use to love English, but it's just too subjective for my likings. You win some, and you lose too many as far as I'm concerned.
English Extention - I like it more in comparison to Advanced because, not only is it easier, but I find it more interesting and we tend to get a lot more freedom when we write and research. Anybody with even a half-decent Extension English teacher would probably think likewise.
General Mathematics - It's easy to judge my ability just by looking at the type of maths I do. I try, and I'll try harder in Year 12 when it matters - but otherwise, not a lot of effort and not a lot of marks to show in turn.
Ancient History - I thought I would love Ancient, but it turns out it's really boring and I wish I did some type of Commerce subject! I loved Commerce in junior school! I think most of the reason is because my teacher is very much a textbook teacher. Good fun - I know!!
Modern History - I absolutely love Modern and its topics, but I just wish we did more work in class. In Ancient, we do way too much work, and in Modern we do barely anything. Oh well, I seem to be doing well according to my exams, and I'm hoping that will continue!
Biology - I can't lie. I have an absolutely phenomenal teacher who really knows his stuff, and I'm really liking Bio! If anybody did Bio as one of their HSC courses prior, can you tell me what the exam is like?
Studies of Religion HSC - My only accelerator course. I seem to be doing relatively well, and I'm hoping to keep it up. For those of you who are also doing some type of accelerator course, then you'd understand that part of my reason for doing it is so that I have some sort of HSC exam experience before the real thing!

I really (really, really) really want to go to University to study Psychology (or Psychiatry if I can get into it) coupled with Law.

So the degrees (from my research) are: Bachelor of Arts - Psychology/Bachelor of Law OR Bachelor of Medical Science and then Bachelor of Psychiatry. If I manage to get into Psychiatry, then I'm more than happy to can my dreams in law.

I've been told, though, that being a Psychologist could be good for me, but I would be better placed in some sort of Editing role. According to my teachers, I have "top editing skills" and I should either be an Editor or a Journalist.

I haven't taken any time to research into those degrees in University, nor have I followed up on any type of research in regards to the type of work they really do.


So really, the questions I wanted to pose to the 222 people viewing this forum when I began making this thread are:

1. In terms of scaling, how will my subjects do taking into account that I have a better chance of doing well in my English-based subjects (and I'm doing very well in Studies of Religion HSC this year)?
2. What UAI range am I looking at for Psychology/Law and Medical Science then Psychiatry? Are my subjects fairly good for these future courses?
3. Will my maths of mathematical ability really make or break me like everybody claims?

Overall, am I on the right track?

no idea about required UAI and stuff
but yeah subjects dont matter too much, so u can get the UAI u need.

also, no your mathematical ability won't affect anything unless you're doing something math related.

biology exams? its just a normal exam, multiple choice and extended responses that are based on the dotpoints.

By the way, Timothy, I've heard that the humanities (which make up the bulk of my subjects) scale slightly slower. In that case, would I have to aim for a higher mark to be on par with the more advanced subjects like Physics and Extension Maths?

You would need to aim for higher marks, also in general maths, you would need extremely good marks 95+ to get decent scaling, still scales low but better then getting a final mark of 80.

Why would you do Med Science to do psychiatry? To do psychiatry you need a medicine degree, and then you need to specialise. It takes a long time. Also, doing med science won't guarantee that you will make it into med.
Why not do psychology for your undergrad, cause then if you don't make it into med, you can still do something you want

Ahh, if I wrote Medical Science in my initial post I think I meant just Bachelor of Medicine.

Well if you do Medicine as your undergrad that's different. Cause medical science =/= med.
