I just started doing them, so I was wondering if you had any pain in your lower back?

i did some just then, yes my lower back hurts, but thats because i suck at crunches and can only do like 15-20 before i implode.

Lower back as in your tailbone?

You should have some kind of exercise mat underneath you, otherwise it rubs on the ground

If it's lower back muscles, and they are sore (difference between sore and pain), then it is prob just because you aren't used to it.

If it is neither of these things, and it is genuine lower back pain, you are probably simply doing it wrong as was said above.

Pretty sure tail bone is the problem. Get a mat. And if you're doing 'em correctly, you should be worried about that painful, yet orgasmic feeling in your abs. Like sugary delights being pumped out of a factory run by little 6 year old Chinese kids.

I got that too. At first I was worried.

The exercise does actually work your back though so you'll get used to it. Try some heavy deads and squats, that will help build your lower back strength alot.

btw: weighted sit ups > crunches.

So I did chest press for the first time in my life last night ( using dumbbells- 10kg) 3 sets of 10 reps, I dont feel anything in my chest area.

But, its the hardest exercise ive done so far, its hard for me to keep my arm straight.

I need to practice alot.

if u didnt feel anything then try use a heavier weight. Im usually quite numb after doing this, and the next day i will be in pain (DOMS - delayed onset muscle soreness).

the reason its hard to keep ur arm straight is because holding a heavy weight at arms length away from ur body means it will tend to sway to the side, your natural reaction will be to straighten it up, this requires other muscles along ur arm/forearm, which is why it seems hard.

its even worse when ur using 17.5kg and ur doing it in ur backyard and its windy :eek:

I just did 2 sets, im getting better, and twoards then end of a set, I can feel my chest area getting warm.

But still no sore.

That warm tingly feeling, feels kinda good, lol.

How long should I hold my arms up, 2 seconds?

This will also work the forearms right?

you should take about 3 seconds to o 1 rep, meaning around 1.5 seconds going up and 1.5 seconds on the way down, nice and slow, but not too slow.

and if u wanna work forearms then dont rely on this, there are other dumbell workouts for forearm, like wrist curls and reverse bicep curls.
